Namma Metro Blue Line Route and Stations

The dates are targets, not confirmed launch days. Track work, train tests and safety approval must finish before each section can carry passengers.

Phase 2A follows the eastern part of the Outer Ring Road. It is often called the ORR Metro Line. It will serve HSR Layout, Bellandur, Kadubeesanahalli, Marathahalli and other large office areas.

Central Silk Board will connect the Blue Line with the Yellow Line. KR Puram will connect it with the working Purple Line. These two changes will help people reach South Bengaluru, Whitefield and the city centre without using the full road route.

Phase 2B turns north from KR Puram. It runs through Kasturi Nagar, Nagawara, Hebbal and Yelahanka before reaching the airport. KR Puram is the common station between both phases.

Earlier maps may show Bettahalasuru, Chikkajala or Jakkur Plantation. These extra stations are not part of the line now being built. They were dropped, so buyers and travellers should not use them to judge present Metro access.

The Blue Line is useful because it meets other parts of the Metro network.

The KR Puram interchange will be important for trips from Whitefield. A rider will be able to take the Purple Line to KR Puram and change for the ORR or airport route. At Nagawara, the future Pink Line will offer a route towards the city centre and South Bengaluru.

No. Construction and system work are still in progress in August 2026. The latest plan is to begin service in three stages.

The Central Silk Board–KR Puram section is expected to start passenger service by mid-2027. The Hebbal–airport section is targeted for September 2027. The harder KR Puram–Hebbal link may open between December 2027 and March 2028.

The Hebbal area is one reason for the later date. BMRCL is building space for four tracks between Hebbal and Kempapura. This work will support the planned Orange Line as well as the Blue Line. It is more complex than a normal two-track viaduct.

Blue Line trains will use driverless technology. Train trials, signalling checks and approval can still change the dates. The final fare, first train, last train and travel time will be known closer to launch.

The Blue Line will join two busy travel markets. Phase 2A will give the ORR office belt a direct Metro route. Phase 2B will bring airport access to the north and east sides of Bengaluru.

A Bellandur employee will be able to travel towards KR Puram or Silk Board without relying only on road traffic. A Whitefield passenger can change at KR Puram for the airport. People near Yelahanka, Bagalur Cross and Doddajala will gain Metro access to the ORR job belt.

The line will not give every part of Bengaluru a one-seat airport ride. Many users will first take the Purple, Yellow or future Pink Line and then change to the Blue Line.

For Prestige Olive Oak on Chapparkallu Road, Doddajala is the nearest planned Blue Line station. The road distance is about 8 to 10 km, depending on the route and project gate. It will still require a car, cab or feeder service for the first part of the trip.

Doddajala station is under construction and cannot be used now. Buyers should treat it as future access, not a current amenity. Once the airport section opens, it could make trips towards Hebbal, KR Puram, the ORR tech parks and KIA easier. The real benefit will depend on the station opening date and the quality of the last-mile link from Chapparkallu Road.

The Blue Line is a major future route, but it is not yet a travel option. Check the BMRCL service map before leaving. Old route maps may also contain stations that were later dropped.

For now, use the Purple, Green and Yellow lines where they suit the trip, along with BMTC, rail or road links. After each Blue Line section opens, check its working stations and interchange rules before planning an airport or office commute.
